Well that didn’t go as planned. At least I got to put my new Zpacks Plexamid V Beta to the test. It rained on us for 16 hours straight and the tent performed beautifully. Sometimes you gotta know when to call it quits.

Smart decision to turn around.
That being said, you should come back and try the loop again. I live in the PDX area and the Serene Lake Loop is one of my favorite hikes.
I’ve done it 3 times now, and regardless of pre-existing weather conditions/forecasts, I have been rained on each time! Once for two days straight, once for the whole afternoon, and once for about an hour…

I intend to for sure. The rain doesn’t bother me as much as it does my four legged side kick. I will probably leave her home and try the loop again sometime this month.
