Citronella incense sticks, sage tossed into fires, and all the deet in the world was not enough to keep the clouds of mosquitoes from feasting upon us and the poor dogs during this beautiful hike through Mount Jefferson Wilderness in early July. Yet this lake dotted loop that starts at Duffy Lake trail head just outside of Sisters Oregon is completely worth it. Even on the 4th of July weekend we were able to find solitude and phenomenal places to pitch our tent with views of the surrounding mountains. The area is still recovering from a recent fire so be ready for plenty of sun exposure and downed trees!
